Chapter 3732 Death, Fate, and Angels

Chapter 3732 Death, Fate, and Angels

The original form's appearance remained unchanged compared to its clone, but everyone could see that the power of the Serpent standing before the temple was far beyond what the clone had ever possessed. It was like a black hole that sucked in light, an embodiment of destruction, a perpetually obscured black mist, or a giant serpent ready to devour the world at any moment.

“I am not completely out of trouble yet, and my appearance here is just a brief performance.”

After retrieving the broken sword from the clone's corpse, it stuck it into the waistband of its robe. Compared to the previous clone, the original "Mr. Snake" was not only more bizarre and powerful, but also had a more noticeable slippery feel when it spoke.

Snake Eyes looked at Xia De:

"The Summoner, that was brilliant. Your preparation and arrangements were superb. I thought I had already perfected the story I had arranged for Act Five, but I never expected that you would actually be able to find the antidote to the love curse."

With so many people present, it spoke only to Shad, without even glancing at Stella or the other four candidates who had returned from a distance:

"The story has not yet reached its final act, and you have already achieved the first destiny and defeated the enemy I arranged for the fifth act."

But I still stand directly before you. Though I cannot directly attack the candidates, I now possess the power to briefly manifest myself. Tell me, what fate can stop me this time?

"You can only be considered an enemy in the final act."

"Yes, but on the stage of a play, can't the final enemy do something bad before the final act to strengthen the protagonists' resolve? For example, guess how many people I can kill tonight?"

The snake asked this question, but Shad did not answer. Instead, he looked down at his feet.

The snake-faced man then looked down at his feet, and the others around Shad did the same. When Sylvie noticed the ground reflecting light, she realized that it had become so smooth.

And the reflection wasn't from the ground, but from the calm water surface.

Unbeknownst to them, everyone and the temple were now standing on the calm, black water. The power of the relic, the [Veil of Obscurity], seemed to have become far too strong; the ring mages, upon closer inspection, clearly felt...

"die!"

The snake in front of the temple looked up and spoke. As it looked up, a ray of moonlight pierced the darkness from the side of the temple and the crowd.

The thick darkness brought about by the serpent's power was quickly dissolved by the distant moonlight. As people turned to look to the side, the enormous silver moon had already risen from the distance of the dark waters. The moonlight illuminated the roof of the temple and the profiles of Shad and the people around him, but left Mr. Serpent alone in the shadows in front of the temple.

Silence reigned, as if this place had lasted forever.

People can clearly feel death, but here death doesn't harm all the living people.

This was not Shad's power, nor was it Shad's doing. Grace and Helen, who had left, found the help they needed. From the side, in front of the enormous dark moon, a figure walked towards them.

It was neither a departed soul nor a normal mortal being.

He had his back to the waning moon, the tranquil light outlining his silhouette, but no one could make out his exact features. However, everyone could see the wings that unfurled behind him as he approached.

It initially walked along the water's surface, but as its wings unfurled, the figure silently ascended into the air. Most of its six wings were charred black, but the halo above its head, the horn in its left hand, and the scythe in its right all revealed what it truly was.

The souls appeared around us without us even noticing. They didn't approach the area with the temple and the living, but instead walked along the water towards the distant moon. After circling the area, the souls converged beneath the angel that silently floated before the moon.

Now his image could finally be seen by people. Beneath the angelic halo was a charred skull face, and he wore a tattered black robe.

This was neither an illusion nor a summoned creature. The first angel created by the ancient gods, the angel who proclaimed death and end, hovered before the dark moon, gazing at Mr. Serpent. The doomsday fate that had briefly emerged from the temple no longer held the relaxed expression it had just worn:

“Angel who heralds the end of the world, I have appeared, and you have appeared as well. I was wondering what Mr. Huan would arrange in his script to stop my appearance this time, but I didn’t expect it to be you.”

The serpent spoke softly in an ancient language, no longer caring about those who confronted it. It turned away from the shadows and reappeared under the dark moon, still standing at the temple entrance facing the angels.

"This is not Mr. Huan's script; it is the effort of an ordinary person."

Shad wanted to tell the snake that, but he didn't.

It seems his guess was correct; the skeleton kept by the Old God, the King of the Tomb, indeed possessed extraordinary power. He had originally only considered "the priest obtaining the skeleton and then displaying his power in the space between life and death created by the veil of obscurity" as a backup plan for the final battle against "The Lustful One," but he didn't expect that the Lustful One would be directly defeated by Iluna because of Ellie, and then Mr. Serpent would appear later.

There are too many coincidences and inevitabilities involved, and even Xia De couldn't say for sure whether Mr. Huan had arranged everything. As one side strengthens, the other side will use other means, and in the end, it will still be a clash of titans. But at least for now, Xia De knows that his side still has the right to fight.

He didn't know how long the priest could maintain this state, but the snake, which hadn't completely broken free of its seal, clearly couldn't ignore this power.

The serpent and the angel faced off before the dark moon, neither making any move, only the angel's six wings, mostly charred black, swaying slightly in the moonlight.

But the oppressive atmosphere and the clash of invisible forces still made the people in front of the temple feel suffocated. The beings of ancient mythology had a brief confrontation before the dark moon that mortals could not comprehend, and the serpent did not seem to be at a disadvantage.

So the angel looked down at the water beneath his feet.

The halo above his head cast a reflection on the black water. Normally, there would be no reflection on black water, but the golden halo left a silver shadow under the illumination of the dark moon.

"Where is Ellie? Where did her Death Curve go?"

Stella suddenly had this thought, and the silver ring-shaped shadow on the water's surface had now completely covered the black arc submerged in the water. The ring of the Angel of Death overlapped with the arc of death, and then the silver light flew out from beneath the water's surface.

[Death] was thus complete; the complete [Ring of Death] hovered before the Angel of Death. The silver ring was imprinted on the front of the angel's tattered robe, and then the blade of the black scythe held in the angel's right hand transformed into a color almost identical to the moon.

That was the fate of death, that was

The sickle fell—

"Destined death!"

The angel didn't speak, but the phrase clearly appeared in everyone's mind.

The scythe in the angel's hand was not huge, but when it swung down, it seemed to be aimed at the entire world.

What happened next is unknown to anyone except Shad, Iluna, and the Geisha twins. The scythe that was swung down collided with the ring that floated above Mr. Snake's body, and even the peaceful death trembled because of it, but it quickly returned to calm under the light of the dark moon.

People were able to recognize that at the moment of amnesia, the angel and the snake had returned to their motionless standoff. The angel still held the scythe and horn, as if he hadn't made any move, while the snake seemed to have taken two steps back out of thin air, though its expression remained unchanged.

"To fight against the angel of death, who is destined to die, in the midst of true death?"

This question hardly requires any thought. Although the angel was not in its complete state, there were still powerful mortals here, and the "Caller of Gods" was bathed in the light of the dark moon, so it was hard to say whether it would reveal other powers.

The snake then decided to retreat. With a wave of its hand, the blade of the black lightsaber, which had been broken off by Shad and was now nowhere to be found, flew towards it from a distance. Although the blade was broken, there was still a chance to repair it.

Unexpectedly, a black light swooped down on the blade like an eagle, and a black crow descended from the sky and precisely seized the broken blade.

A raven flew over the other side of the temple, its crimson eyes fixed on the snake, which recognized what it was.

It looked at the angel, then at the "raven," then at the "caller of gods," and finally its eyes settled on the five candidates, a smile spreading across its face:

"It was truly spectacular; even I have to applaud and cheer for it."

It seems this is indeed not my time to show myself. The final act is yet to come, and an enemy like me, who should only appear at the very end of the play, can't really do much even if I reveal myself. Fate has arranged the entire script; well then, my appearance here is over.

It no longer cared about the two souls within that blade; after all, the hilt, which was the essence of the demon, was still in its hand.

The snake understood its situation and retreated back into the shadows of the temple. Darkness enveloped its body, leaving only its serpentine eyes clearly visible. It asked Shad again:

"Summoner of the gods, the scene has been grand enough. So, at the end of this story, am I worthy to see your deity?"

Shad answered it:

"I think even without the appearance of gods, mortals can make you disappear completely. There are three destinies, and there are still two acts left before the end. More destinies will come, and you can look forward to more mortals understanding their own destiny and joining our ranks."

The snake seemed to be laughing, and its eyes vanished into the darkness. Amidst the eerie hissing sounds, the temple illuminated by the dark moon disappeared like a pencil drawing erased by an eraser.

After Mr. Snake was completely gone, Shad looked in the direction of the angel and nodded slightly. Then, the distant moon fell back into the water, and the world returned to darkness.

When the moonlight and starlight of the real world shone on people again, their location had returned to the rugged basin in that hidden area, where the cratered ground still bore the marks of the battle.

Crimson arcs of electricity leaped in the black puddle, the sounds of battle from the snowfield in the distance gradually became clearer, and snowflakes, which had started to fall at some point, landed on everyone's shoulders.

No one who witnessed the scene spoke immediately, but Stella noticed that Ellie, who had disappeared after handing Shad the ring, was now running towards them happily in her unicorn form.

"The battle for destiny hasn't even reached its final stage, and this situation has already arisen?"

More than one person was thinking this at that moment. The witches breathed a sigh of relief, since Mr. Snake had been forced to retreat no matter what. Meanwhile, Old Man Zaratu was pondering the moment when the arc beneath the angel's feet transformed into destiny.

The two cult candidates retreated silently; having just experienced what had happened, they needed to pass on the message. Grace and Helen also left quietly; after all, Shad, the angel, and the raven had vanished after the darkness receded.

P.S.: It was pretty good, but the ending of this volume will be even more exciting.

This volume concludes the priest's side story, while the doctor's side still has some loose ends. After all, the book is now in its second half, and it's time to gradually reveal information about the "Primal Demon."
