Chapter 3861 Egg and New Life

Chapter 3861 Egg and New Life

Chapter 3861 Egg and New Life

The two walked along the corridor to the stone chamber at the end. Now, in addition to the braziers in the four corners of the stone chamber, the walls and floor were covered with dense golden divine runes. This was a simple sealing ceremony that Miss Eden and her people had set up at noon today.

The "Mark of Redemption," surrounded by divine runes, was imprinted on the center of the ceiling, below which were steps leading down to the earth. The Prophet's Guild, the Academy, and the Church would then work together to reinforce the seal and establish a permanent monitoring station within the snow mountain ruins to oversee the area—part of the responsibilities of the soon-to-be-established "Circular Hall."

Winnie transformed into frost, enveloping Shad, and then flew down the steps with him.

Below lay a world where reality and illusion intertwined, a strange space woven from the power of ancient gods, the power of the Doomsday Serpent, and the spirituality of the snow-capped mountains. Winnie led Shad to the very bottom of that space, where a dim, yellowish desert stood, containing a structure remarkably similar to the temple in the real ruins.

The power of the Doomsday Serpent still lingers here; the long seal has allowed its power to merge with this place. Inside the desert temple, Shad sees a giant white serpent egg on the offering table. The egg is at least half a meter tall, its surface emitting a soft, shimmering light.

This was not a divine creation from the Tower of All Things. Shad approached with some surprise, touched it, and then understood:

"Is this Ms. White?"

Winnie nodded:

"She has been stripped of her destiny as the guardian, and all her power has been exhausted. Before she dissipated, I froze her existence here, because snakes don't easily return here. When I came back after the war, she had become like this."

"So, can Ms. White still hatch it?"

Shad then asked, since his senses couldn't penetrate the eggshell, and Winnie wasn't sure either:

"Maybe yes, maybe no. I plan to place it in the Upper Spring later and use the power of that spring to nurture the snake egg. Perhaps one day in the future, we will be able to see that lady again."

But by then, she would no longer be a ring beast, nor the guardian of the seal; she would simply be a snake born from the spirit of Mount Fatumunster, similar to me and Miss Elizabeth.

Shad nodded; he knew this was the best possible outcome.

"And what about you, Winnie?"

He then asked the crystal-clear maid:

Are you still the 12th ring now?

She knew what Shad wanted to ask:

"The power that Ms. White entrusted to me is indeed powerful, but Her Majesty Chloe said that one should not walk a path that is not one's own just because of great power. That power has helped me a lot, a lot, a lot. Now I am only one step away from the thirteenth ring."

The ice maid looked at Shade with a gentle smile:

"Perhaps I need the kind of opportunity that Miss Sylvia Aurora—no, Madam—to advance to the thirteenth ring."

"But that magic only works on witches."

"So, Master, are you rejecting me?"

She smiled playfully at Xia De, who then realized she was teasing him, so he took the maid's hand and kissed her.

"After that, you can come to my house from the snow mountain castle anytime, right?"

"Yes, but you need to take me to your home first so I can locate it. Now that the key has been found, all the functions Her Majesty Chloe designed for that castle can be activated."

However, His Majesty believes that the castle should not undermine the functionality of your house, therefore only I can travel between the two locations at any time for maid duties. If you wish to go to the castle, you will still need to use the old method.”

"Does Chloe know about Saint De?"

Shad hesitated, then reminded Winnie:

“In the past, Tifa and the others usually cleaned my house and did some housework. You two can talk sometime and see how the work should be divided in the future.”

The maid shook her head:

“We’ve already discussed this, and the responsibilities have been clearly defined. Maids are here to serve their masters, so please don’t worry that we’ll dislike each other or even fight over jobs. A qualified maid wouldn’t do that.”

Shad was relieved, but Winnie then said:

"Actually, what happened this morning was the result of my communication with Tifa and Matilda. Although the witches of the Sixth Age are somewhat different from those of the Fifth Age, the witch apprentices are just as bold."

His icy blue eyes looked at Shad:

How was your morning?

Although it is a life born from ice and snow, this sentence is exceptionally warm.

"Hmm, very good. Very talented."

Winnie smiled and kissed Shad again. She wasn't in a hurry at all; after all, compared to the demigods and witches on the other side of time, the little maid had already gained the right to enter Shad's house at any time.

Before returning to the Radiant Messenger to reunite with everyone, Shad and Winnie moved the snake egg to Upper Spring. Winnie didn't want anyone to disturb the egg, so she used some "privileges" to hide a portion of Upper Spring and placed the egg in that hidden area.

Although Ms. White was asleep, her promise to Shad was still fulfilled. This did not refer to the matter concerning Queen Diana, but rather to the "Casino of Fate."

She shared all the information about the ancient god's remnant space with Winnie. On their way back to the Radiant Messenger hand in hand, Winnie also told Shad about this information.

The incantation needed to open that door is "May the ever-changing fate protect me on the stage of destiny," but the "key" needed to open the door is neither the ring of fate nor the arc.

“A solidified destiny is something that should not exist in the first place, and the ancient gods will not use it as a key. The real key is the one who opens the door. Only those who know their own destiny can enter the casino. And only those who have comprehended their own destiny are qualified to try new opportunities in the casino at any time.”

Winnie explained that this would allow the door hidden on the first floor of No. 6 St. Teresa's Place to be officially opened.

The elves have already sent invitations to the banquet to the ship. This grand banquet, in which ring sorcerers and other creatures participate together, is rarely attended by witches, so everyone is looking forward to it.

Luvia found some excuse to leave the city and arrived at the ship early. She wouldn't be attending the elven banquet tonight. Although the association had given her a spot, she felt it would be pointless to go since she couldn't meet Shad, so she declined.

Luvia plans to continue dealing with the many matters following the Battle of Destiny on the ship tonight after everyone has left, such as personnel deployment, the whereabouts of the Curved Arc, and the regulations for the subsequent management of the ruins.

Since makeup wasn't required, Luvia explained everything that had happened in the Battle of Destiny to Shad in the banquet hall before the group set off for the elven camp. The story, which continued until this morning, was divided into three lines: "Shad's Story," "The Story of the Cat and the Unicorn," and "The Witches' Story." The witches had gathered all these events and compiled them into a written report by this afternoon.

Of course, the most troublesome part was learning about Ellie's experiences from her, since her companion Mia couldn't speak, and little Leona's Common was even worse than Ellie's.

Only then did Shad truly learn about Ellie and Mia's encounter in the snowy mountains the previous night, how Luvia used two coins to divine and arranged for the powerful figures of "Three Fates" to fight the snake before his return, what opportunities Ellie's ringing of the sacred bell brought to everyone, and who played the "Falling Moon Rebirth Song."

"The only thing I don't know right now is why that evil god descended. I should have asked you this question this morning, but you were too busy."

Luvia asked the neatly dressed Shad, who had a box next to him containing fragments of the snake eggshell from the Tower of All Things, which he planned to give to Luvia later.

"Mr. Misfortune, this is a difficult question to answer. Perhaps it's meant to make me fall."

Luvia raised an eyebrow:

"Falling? And why is that?"

"In order for me to know the past, to complete part of the [Rebirth Ritual], to know what happened at the Moon Tower on Mount Karas."

Shad recounted to Luvia what he saw and heard during his "fall," and Luvia listened attentively, only speaking after a long pause.

“You told me before that the college’s background check on you was definitely inaccurate. Before you met Dr. Schneider in the summer of 1853, you might not have been a vagrant or a blind idiot at all?”

"Maybe I was a wanderer for a while, maybe I was mentally impaired for a while, but it wasn't for a very long time. I think my amnesia is because of that fall in the spring."

Luvia then did a quick mental calculation: if Shad's actual age of "two years" was counted from the spring of 1853, then the time up to now would be just right.

She suddenly felt she understood something, but Luvia naturally wouldn't bring up the sensitive topic of Shad's real age, which made them feel deeply ashamed.

As for Shad's past blindness and folly, Luvia certainly understood that it was not always there. After all, even if Shad did not deliberately show off or copy any books, the way this outsider, who had been "polluted" by knowledge, spoke and cultivated his cultural refinement did not seem like someone from an illiterate background.

It's worth noting that Shad's mathematical skills were even better than Sylvia's; sometimes, Luvia and the other girls even doubted whether he actually had a doctorate.

Of course, the most important thing now is what happened at the Karas Mountains:

"You said that at that time, there were two figures, one gold and one silver, watching you fall from the top of the tower."

"Meow~"

As Xia De stroked her, the orange and white Mia squinted and cried out.

But in the end, Luvia didn't say anything; she shook her head.

"You'll have to solve these problems yourself. I think only you can solve them. Since you said that your fall during the Battle of Destiny was a replica of that fall back then, and it brought you such a great boost, I think the Moon Tower on Mount Karas must be involved in some extraordinary secret. Your special ability to avoid being recognized by the witch's curse might all be because of that place."

"So, Shad, besides Danist, are you planning to bring anyone else on your upcoming trip to Mount Karas?"
