Chapter 3907 The Life of Margaret Anjou

Seeing that Xia De had figured it out, Sylvia was finally satisfied.

Then, Shad recreated the cards and toys one by one, and Sylvia's followers on the island helped set up the tables and tableware in the garden in front of the house and processed the expensive ingredients.

As for Sylvia's willingness to do Margaret such a big favor, it was naturally because of the incident where she "kidnapped" Shad before the year-end festival. After this help, the Great Witch of Space no longer owed Margaret anything.

So Sylvia was happy to do so at that moment.

"Is Margaret in the house now?"

After handing over all the cards, Shad asked Sylvia, who then reminded him:

"Don't be in such a hurry~ Margaret may be a witch's apprentice, but she is still a princess. If you want to get close to her before marriage, you should at least make the girl feel some kind of ceremony."

She looked at the four-story white building:

"But she is indeed waiting for you inside. Treat Margaret well; it wasn't an easy decision for her to make."

Xia De nodded very seriously:

“I understand. I know it wasn’t easy for you all to be willing to do this. I’m a very lucky guy, which is why I have won the hearts of all of you.”

Sylvia's smile widened:

"You should save those nice words for Margaret. But I really like what you said."

She kissed Xia De on the cheek, smacked her lips, and then hugged his neck and kissed him passionately. Once she was satisfied, she used a handkerchief to wipe the lipstick stains from Xia De's lips, and then pushed him into the house.

Since the island itself is a spatial anomaly, the house itself is naturally not a normal space either. Upon entering, Shad saw a huge entrance hall and corridors extending to the left and right; for a moment, he felt as if he had stumbled into a nobleman's manor.

"The internal and external areas are clearly mismatched."

However, there was no need for Shad to cast spells to find the next clue. The photos were laid out on the carpet, guiding Shad forward.

He first bent down and picked up the first photograph on the doormat at his feet. The photograph showed a newborn baby sleeping with its eyes closed in a cradle. If Ellie were to describe it, the baby would be "ugly," but Shad recognized it immediately as Margaret.

Then a short conversation reached Shad's ears:

"Oh, this little princess is truly beautiful. Has His Majesty named her yet?"

"Yes, Margaret, a girl like a pearl. Pure, precious, elegant, and resilient. May she grow up to be as beautiful as the Queen and as brave and wise as His Majesty."

The conversation ended, and Shad smiled as he looked at the photo in his hand:

"This happened when Margaret was just born, right? She found the servant from back then and had Hillis capture her memories in a photograph?"

It's understandable that Margaret, Vanessa's apprentice, would seek help from Hillis.

He continued walking forward and picked up the second photograph in the center of the foyer.

When he saw the little girl in the photograph giggling and crawling on the carpet, a beam of light shone from the old black-and-white photograph, and in that light, the photograph came to life, and several nervous maids watched young Margaret playing with toys on the carpet.

At this time, Margaret was probably only one or two years old, but her features already showed signs of what she would look like when she grew up. She was smiling happily, and perhaps she herself couldn't remember this scene, but one of the maids around her still did.

The third photo is taken on the stairs leading to the second floor, and it's a family portrait of the royal family. At this time, Margaret's brother had not yet been born, so in the photo, besides a young "Lion" Ryan and the Queen, there are only four children: two boys and two girls.

Margaret was the youngest, looking no more than three or four years old, so she was held in the arms of the smiling Queen. However, the little girl, dressed in a fluffy princess dress and wearing a small toy crown askew on her head, looked unhappy, and Shad heard a sound—

"Margaret, I'll give you candy after the photos are taken."

"But Mother, I want to eat candy right now."

"Eating sugar is bad for your teeth, Margaret. You should eat more vegetables. Purple cabbage is a very delicious vegetable."

“But I don’t like vegetables, and neither do my brothers Samuel and William.”

The little girl spoke in a sweet, childlike voice, which made Xia De's smile even brighter.

He continued up the stairs and found a fourth photograph on the staircase between the second and third floors. In the photograph, Margaret, who was about eight or nine years old, was riding a pony and happily holding a wooden sword.

The scene that then unfolded in the outdoor horse farm also appeared beside Shad in the form of a memory.

He saw the petite Margaret waving a wooden sword and laughing on horseback, and he saw the servants around her anxiously urging the people off-screen to take pictures quickly. He then knew that this memory most likely came from that photographer from back then.

The fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth photos respectively record Margaret's tenth birthday party, Margaret attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new town hall building in Velendale with the Queen when she was twelve, Margaret sitting in the garden pavilion at fourteen looking at her homework with a troubled expression, Margaret holding flowers at her sister's wedding when she was sixteen, and Margaret wearing the Kingdom's army uniform and taking a photo with her two brothers, who are also wearing military uniforms, on a warship when she was eighteen.

The photos, presented through real scenes or dialogues, showed Shad Margaret's life journey from birth, allowing Shad to almost see Margaret's entire life so far in just twenty minutes.

The photograph led him to the fourth floor of the building, and once he left the stairwell, he discovered that the fourth-floor corridor had been carefully decorated.

A brand-new red wool carpet was laid on the floor, with flower stands placed every half meter on either side as decoration. The oil paintings on the walls had all been replaced with brand-new landscape photos of Willendale, and the open door of the banquet hall in the distance awaited Shad's arrival.

Music drifted from that doorway—symphonic music reserved for grand celebrations. But Shad didn't go over immediately; instead, he bent down and picked up yet another photograph.

In the photo, twenty-year-old Margaret is smiling as she stands with Sylvia; Shad overhears their conversation—

"Teacher, when can I become your true student?"

“Margaret, you know my requirements for an apprentice. You are far from qualified.”

“Teacher, I will patiently wait for the day when you will accept me. But aren’t your expectations for your apprentice a bit too high? Can you really wait for that person?”

Sylvia's answer was firm:

“I believe it will work. Margaret, I will introduce you to her when she appears. I can guarantee that she will be able to build an unbreakable relationship with you. Although I don’t want you to be my apprentice for now, you will always be my student.”

Xia De carefully put the photos away. He continued forward and picked up the last photo just two meters away from the open banquet hall doors.

This is also a photo of two people, and Xia De still knows both of them.

The still frame appears to be from afternoon tea time, with Margaret Anjou and Lacia Cavendish seated on either side of a small round table, against a backdrop of hedges. The poised Margaret is speaking while holding her teacup, while Lacia covers her mouth with her hand, clad in a white lace glove, and chuckles softly.

The scene then unfolded right beside Shad, as he watched the two princesses he knew well conversing—

"Lacia, you're leaving for home the day after tomorrow, right?"

"Yes, we first took a boat from the west coast back to Coldwater Port, and then a steam train from Coldwater Port back to Tobesk. A lot happened there while I was away. There was a series of murders at Lakeview Estate outside the city, something that hasn't happened in many years."

Margaret then said:

"Then remember to write to me when you get back home. I've never been to Tobesk before, and I wonder what the scenery is like in the north during the summer."

Lacey replied:

“If you have the chance to visit Tobesk, I will definitely treat you well. However, I have some things to take care of after I return home, and my ‘sister’ has met a very interesting person.”

Margaret only believed that her "sister" was another princess of the Cavendish royal family.

"What kind of interesting person is he?"

Margaret picked up her teacup, and Lacia raised her right hand to cover her mouth and chuckled.

"I can't tell you that right now."

The scene freezes here. In the summer of 1853, as the outsiders were just beginning to awaken, Lacey was visiting Willendale. She met Shad in Coldwater Harbor after the story of "Balance" had ended and the story of "Darkness" had begun.

Therefore, during the summer of 1853 in Willendale, Recia, who was still out of control and had swapped souls with Dorothy, already knew a lot about outsiders. The "interesting person" she was referring to should be Shad, who is holding the photograph at this moment.

Two years later, the person in the photo has already established a very close relationship with the "interesting person," while the other person is about to make a lifelong commitment to the "interesting person" in this southern capital.

No one at the time could have imagined that such a day would come.

Shade carefully put away the last photograph before walking down the red carpet into the open banquet hall.

Surprisingly, there were many "people" here. The clay figures were dressed in proper formal attire and walked around the hall, which seemed to be a wedding banquet, just like real humans. Although they could not speak, there was indeed a buzzing conversation in the background of the banquet hall.
