Chapter 3994 Put to sleep

Luvia was now curled up in Shad's arms, her eyes half-closed, whether asleep or listening to their conversation was unclear. Iluna listened attentively to Shad's introduction:

“I see. I understand now. It seems we’re going to the Church of Creation to resolve some trouble, Nasha. Try not to make too much of a commotion in Arcadia City today. I heard that besides me, there are several other people with the Thirteen Rings going there this time.”

"It's almost time," Iluna said, standing up.

"I'll go get the gun from the basement myself, so you don't need to see me off. The Vatican informed me that this trip is a short business trip, and I don't think I'll stay there for more than a week. If there's a chance, we'll meet in Arcadia City."

She waved goodbye to Shad, and seeing that Luvia had really fallen asleep again in Shad's arms, the eighteen-year-old girl leaned down and kissed Shad on the forehead. Then she pursed her lips and pointed to her own cheek. Shad, trying not to wake Luvia, also kissed Iluna on the cheek.

Goodbye, I'm leaving~

Feeling incredibly energetic, Iluna opened her mouth but didn't make a sound, then skipped downstairs. Only after hearing the door close downstairs did Luvia, who seemed to be asleep, say with her eyes closed:

“Iluna is really interesting. I thought she wanted you to kiss her while you were holding me. I mean a real kiss, not just a kiss on the cheek.”

Shad held her in his arms:

"Luvia, you know what kind of personality Iluna has."

"So she's known you longer than Sylvie, but she hasn't even developed the same sense of crisis as Sylvie."

Luvia said softly, not wanting to move at all:

"It's still twenty minutes until 6:30, I don't want to go back to the third floor. Can you hold me and let me sleep in your arms for a while?"

"Of course, go to sleep then. I'll wake you up when it's time to eat."

So Luvia fell asleep peacefully in Shad's arms, and even when the maids went to cook, they did not disturb her.

When Luvia woke up, it was already 6:50. By then, Galina had already been pulled up by Sylvia to wash up. Luvia muttered a complaint about Shad not waking her up, and when she came out of the bathroom, she found that Danist was also in the house.

"I won't be having breakfast at home, Shad. Today, the three major academies and the four righteous churches besides the [Church of Creation] will all send people to the Arcadia region to inquire about yesterday's events among the believers of the God of Creation. When you're there today, don't make too much of a commotion."

Denise arrived quickly and left quickly, having delivered the message.

"Looks like something big is going to happen in Arcadia today. If I'm free, I'd like to go check it out."

Galina sat at the dining table, propping her head up with her hand and looking towards the living room. It was a very unladylike gesture, but since she was at home in the early morning, she didn't care.

"I think you want to give Wei Ge a surprise, right?"

Sylvia said with a smile, and Galina did not deny it:

"Then let Vige be smug for a few more days. So much has happened in that city in just one week because of Xia De's arrival. Maybe by this time next week, we'll all be having dinner together at Vige's Fragrant Residence."

"I want to emphasize, Galina, the incident in Arcadia City was not because of my arrival."

Shad, returning from downstairs, said as he placed the cat on the dining table:

"However, we do need to be more cautious today. I wonder what it will be like when the three major academies and the Four Gods Church go to the [Church of Creation] together."

“You don’t need to show up yet. Once we’ve determined the extent of the problems with the Church of Creation, you can take the Witch Council to check on things if you’re interested.”

Luvia said, as she sat down next to Galina:

"Dannister just said that Emilia and Ellie will also be going to Arcadia with her. Along with Iluna and those 13th-ring sorcerers, there shouldn't be any major problems this time."

"Shad, your main focus right now should be on matters in the city—the Blood Spirit School and the vampires, the Holy Sons Alliance and the alchemists. Of course, there are also other potential incidents caused by the uncontrolled giant fire source in the area; those are the things you should be paying attention to."

Jialina teased again:

"If you don't want to investigate these things for the time being, it would be good to investigate the secret of Wei Ge's mother. Wei Ge will definitely develop a better impression of you because of it."

Sylvia laughed, while Shad looked somewhat troubled:

"Right now, what I'm most concerned about is the [Active Metal]. If possible, I'd like to use it to unlock the key tomorrow night rather than delay it any longer. Compared to these things, the Baron's stolen manuscript is actually the least important matter at the moment."

"Shad, if you obtain a new metal, could you also create a 'Spark' from it?"

Sylvia asked curiously, and Luvia answered the question:

“Theoretically, it is possible. Shad can use the existing spark source to make that new metal run wild. We can temporarily use the [Eternal Youth Leaf], but without the 'breeding mark' from fate, the newly forged spark source will not be as stable as it is now. Fate is the key force.”

Shad believed it was best not to do that:

“Even if the ‘Reproductive Mark’ is still there, I don’t recommend creating more ‘Sparks’. After all, they are aggregates of calamities, and the things the ‘Church of Creation’ has done are already troublesome enough.”

“It’s a wise choice. I admire how rational you always are.”

As Galina spoke, she rubbed against Shad's leg under the table, then began to imagine how she would tease Viggo when they actually met in Arcadia City.

After breakfast, everyone left. Sylvia also told Shad that Margaret would probably set off for the front lines in the middle or late part of next month, which was still a month away.

When Shad arrived in Arcadia, he was surprised to find that the city of scholars was shrouded in thick fog.

This isn't smog, but rather normal spring fog. Shad wasn't very familiar with the city's climate, and it wasn't until he arrived at Fragrant Residence that he learned from Miss McDonald that due to Arcadia's unique geographical location, foggy weather was normal in spring and autumn, but it would only last until 10 a.m. at most, after which it should dissipate.

Shade arrived early this morning to visit Vige. The witch hadn't gone out this morning; she received Shade from her bed in her bedroom.

The pale-faced, black-haired witch, dressed in pajamas, leaned against two soft pillows and smiled at Shad as he entered her bedroom.

"You look much better than yesterday evening, Vige. Did you not drink any blood wine today?"

Shade sat on the chair next to Vigo's bed and asked. The witch's bedroom was the largest room in the house. To Shade's eyes, her bed was big enough for seven or eight people to lie on. It was even more extravagant than the bed that Galina had in the manor.

The room's decor, like the rest of the house, appeared luxurious yet possessed a strange, rustic charm. A peculiar fragrance permeated the room, a blend of Viggo's own perfume and calming incense; the scent was quite pleasant.

"After drinking it, my mental strength has almost recovered. I don't look well now, mainly because I haven't been able to sleep since I woke up at eight o'clock last night. I've been thinking about my mother."

As she spoke, Vivi reached out her right hand from under the covers and took Xia De's hand. The white nightgown she was wearing had lace ruffles at the cuffs; the design was simple, but it complemented her slightly pale complexion quite well.

Shad then took her hand and asked Miss McDonald, who was standing nearby:

"Didn't you prepare any magic potions to help you sleep?"

The young woman nodded:

"I prepared it, but the teacher hates drinking this kind of stuff."

Vige smiled at Xia De, her face pale:

"Don't worry about me. Because of you, I have regained my strength after so many years, and I can even hear my mother's voice. I am actually in a good mood, I just need to rest in bed for a day."

Because of Xia De's blood brew, she only needed to rest and there was no serious problem.

Shad then proposed:

"Why don't you take a nap now? We'll wake you up for lunch."

But Wei Ge shook her head like a spoiled little girl:

"No, I want to talk to you, I want to hear you talk, I want you to hold me."

When Wei Ge said those words, she blushed a little. She still missed the feeling of being embraced by Xia De's soul in her dream yesterday.

Miss McDonald greatly admired her teacher's boldness, but she did not think her teacher had done anything wrong. In the eyes of this meticulous and serious girl, striving to achieve one's goals was the right thing to do.

Xia De did not agree to Wei Ge's final suggestion. Wei Ge was currently lying in bed, and if Xia De wanted to hold her, he would have to get on top of her. Although he and Wei Ge were close, the outsider did not think he should do so at this moment.

However, since the other person was a patient, looking at that delicate face, he offered another suggestion:

"How about I tell you a story? Maybe you'll fall asleep while I'm telling it."

"A bedtime story, is it?"

Wei Ge nodded gently:

"But we have a deal: you absolutely cannot leave before I fall asleep."

She tightened her grip on Xia De's hand, and Xia De nodded:

"of course."

So all the curtains were drawn, and everyone except Shad left the room. They weren't worried that Shad would take advantage of their master, since it was hard to say who would take advantage of whom.

The only light in the room came from the elegantly designed gas lamp by the bedside. Xia De helped Vige pull out a pillow so she could lie down, and then pulled the blanket up for her. Throughout this time, the witch's eyes were fixed on Xia De.
